The two gunmen who Sunday, May 3, tried - and failed - to shoot up an exhibit of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, northeast of Dallas, sounded a wakeup call for US counter-terrorism agencies - even before the Islamic State warned that this first attack on US soil would not be its last. Both homegrown Islamist terrorists were shot dead. But the incident betrayed the “human intelligence” weakness of US and Western agencies – a shortage of undercover agents to mingle in communities which may produce terrorists.

Neither Israeli nor Syrian officials confirm these reports. Senior US defense officials reported Thursday, April 23, that the Iranian convoy suspected of carrying weapons for Houth rebels in Yemen appeared to have turned around and was heading north toward Iran. If this is confirmed it means that Tehran had decided to avoid a showdown at sea with US, Saudi, Egyptian or UAE fleets patrolling Yemen waters to intercept any Iranian vessels trying to unload arms for the rebels. The USS Roosevelt carrier and USS Normandy missile cruiser are still in tne area.
