The US, Russia and China Sunday, March 16 contributed military satellites to the search for the Malaysian Boeing 777, missing without a trace for nine days with 239 people aboard. debkafile: The hunt focuses increasingly on some unknown derelict airfield in remote Central Asia, with the investigative accent on the contents of the cargo hold or a possible hijacking by terrorists to prepare for a major attack. Were they Uyghur separatists or others? Was the plane downed by cyber means? And were the pilots complicit in a plot to make Flight MH370 vanish?More>

Binyamin Netanyahu warned Monday, March 10, that because the world chooses to ignore Iran’s concealed nuclear program, the next Klos C ship may not carry missiles but “nuclear suitcases.” debkafile: He was the first Western leader to acknowledge Iran’s possession of nuclear suitcases, which were part of a ten-year old illicit Ukrainian shipment to Iran of six X-55 nuclear capable cruise missiles with a range of 2,000km. Israel’s seizure of the Iranian missile ship KLOS C Wednesday, March 6, was the second time the IDF had poked a finger in the eye of Gen. Qassem Soleimani, head of the al Qods Brigades, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ intelligence-cum-terrorist arm. The first was the Israeli air strike on Feb. 24 on Hizballah’s arms convoys and missiles on the Lebanese-Syrian border. debkafile: Gen. Soleimani was quick to set up low-key yet ominous reprisals within days of Israel’s air strike and may well come up with payback for the ship’s seizure.
Middle East sources say Israel’s air strikes on Monday, Feb. 24, were conducted by no more than one or two warplanes which aimed four rockets at a single target, an SS-21 surface missile launcher. Four Hizballah operatives were killed. Large sections of the Lebanese-Syrian border are obliterated by the hectic traffic of arms, men and smuggling networks. Rising there too is an international Shiite legion. Hizballah’s Beqaa Valley arms and missile stores are now strategic reserve supply centers for Hizballah and Syrian units fighting in border sectors.
