The president and prime minister discussed the importance of preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and a range of security issues in a call Friday lasting 20 minutes. Gov. Romney then phoned Netanyahu. They too discussed Iran. In reporting on the conversation, Romney’s press secretary was enigmatic. He said that it is unclear whether there is any difference between their “red lines” on when it would be appropriate to launch military action against Iran. He also said he did not believe force will ultimately be needed.
Thursday night the prime minister addressed to the UN a fresh demand for red lines.
