No one was hurt in a mortar attack from Gaza on Israeli troops patrolling the border near the Eshkol district early Thursday. The shells exploded harmlessly on the border fence. An Israeli air strike followed, which averted missile launches against Israel, apparently by a Jihad Islami team, from a point near the southern Gazan town of Khan Younes.  The Palestinians report two motorcyclists were injured. The IDF ordered Israeli farmers to stay 1.5 km from the border. Wednesday, a Qassam rocket blew up on the Gaza side of the fence before reaching Israel.
