Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon and senior commanders visited the Golan Tuesday to survey the rebel assault on Quneitra across the border. “Syrian rebels have pushed the Assad military into a corner in the Syrian town,” the minister commented. “To the east, we are seeing destruction and death, and sometimes, the injured come to us for medical treatment. To the West, we see the Golan Heights flourishing.”

Israel has kept the Quneitra crossing to the Syrian side of Golan closed for the third day running as a precaution against stray fire from the fierce battle over Quneitra.
