Palestinians attacked a woman in the Old City and injured another 10 with a hail of firebombs and rocks on their bus. Two of the injured Israelis were children. The violent attacks also spread Saturday night to Jerusalem’s northern, eastern and southern suburbs. Police and counter-terrorist agencies report that the Palestinians are bent on escalating the level of violence, egged on by the Israeli policy of restraint to avoid major clashes and bloodshed.
The towns within range of the Gaza Strip complain that the same government policy of military restraint gives Hamas a free hand to step up its rocket barrage at will. Saturday, they added Beersheba, Ashkelon and Ofakim to their roster of targets.
