More arrests as terror stalks Jerusalem again
DEBKAfile Exclusive Analysis August 16, 2017

Three major Israeli counter-terror operations in a week (Aug.10-16) are a measure of the intensity of terrorist plots for the commission of mass-casualty strikes in Jerusalem. Although Israel’s security authorities are cagey with the information they release on the mostly covert war they are waging on Palestinian and other Arab terror, three geographical areas may be marked out as significant:

Israel blasts UN naming Hebron a Palestinian site
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report July 7, 2017

Israel blasted as “shameful and anti-Semitic” the UNESCO designation of Old Hebron and the Cave of the Patriarchs as “Palestinian heritage sites in danger.” Binyamin Netanyahu asked,  “Who is buried there, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca and Leah.”

Big Palestinian Terror Attack Seen Building up for Lack of Proactive Counter-Measures
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report November 26, 2015

Unless the Israeli government heads switch their anti-terror tactics from reactive to proactive, the country can expected the current wave of terror to blow up into a major assault in an Israeli city with many casualties. That is the view taking root in senior ranks of the IDF.

Palestinian terror claims 5 murders in a day as Hebron swings out of Shin Bet control
DEBKAfile Special Report November 19, 2015

All five murders perpetrated by Palestinian terrorists in Tel Aviv and on the Hebron highway on Thursday, Nov. 19, led back to the Hebron district of the southern West Bank. The current wave of terror is earning the title of “The Hebron Intifada.” While anti-Jewish violence has been endemic to the region since 1929, the current wave was sparked by internal Palestinian strife. It is being exploited by Hebron’s clan chiefs to further their aspirations to seize the Palestinian leadership from Ramallah.

Palestinian terror claims two more Israeli lives. Ya’alon's anti-terror policy is bankrupt
DEBKAfile Special Report November 13, 2015

The unending Palestinian campaign to murder Israelis Friday, Nov.13, shattered another Israeli family of seven. Gunmen shot dead a father, 40, and his 18-year old son, injuring his wife and another son of 13 and traumatizing their three small daughters. They were attacked on Highway 60 on the road running between Othniel and the Palestinian village of Dura in the Mt. Hebron district. The killer or killers shot the two Israeli men a second time at close range.

Massive search for missing Israeli in Hebron hills
An Israeli man’s disappearance in a Palestinian village stirs mixed suspicions
DEBKAfile Special Report April 2, 2015

Whatever the circumstances that led a young Israeli man of 21 from Beersheba to disappear in the Palestinian village of Beit Anoun in the Hebron hills Thursday afternoon, April 2, the authorities are treating the incident as a possible terrorist kidnapping and pulling out all the stops to find him. Those circumstances are beginning to look suspicious. But fresh in their memories is the kidnap and murder by Hamas terrorists of three Israeli teenagers in the same area last summer, an outrage which led to an Israeli operation against Hamas in Gaza.

Reliance on Air Power and Hasty Ceasefire Fails to Shorten Gaza Conflict
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report July 17, 2014

Netanyahu is relying on only two advisors to wage the war on Hamas in Gaza, and his over-reliance on air strikes and hopes for a quick ceasefire have proved this to be unwise.

DEBKAfile Special Report July 1, 2014

The funerals of Eyal Yifrach, Gil-Ad Shaer and Naftali Frenkel, buried side by side, Tuesday, July 1, were a national event, drawing many tens of thousands of sorrowing sympathizers from every segment of the population. Their anguish over the senseless murders of the three boys, shortly after they were kidnapped on June 10 on their way home, was mixed with anger and demands for real retribution. The massed mourners will be expecting Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who joined them, to make good on his vow to make Hamas pay.

Eyal Yifrach, 19, Gil-Ad Shaer and Naftali Frenkel, both aged 16, were found dead Monday, June 30, in the Palestinian village of Kachil near Halhoul north of Hebron. They were apparently thrown in haste in a field by their kidnappers. Their parents were informed earlier of the discovery. The all-out search of 20 days has switched urgently from Operation Brother’s Keeper for the boys to the hunt for their kidnappers. The Israeli cabinet was summoned to an emergency session Monday night to determine how to respond to the tragic deaths.

A SIGINT Data "knob turner"
Israel’s top-notch cyber intelligence agencies draw a blank in search for teenagers
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report June 19, 2014

Israel's major intelligence agencies have diverted their most sophisticated financial and technological resources to the top-priority task of sweeping the media for a trace of the three kidnapped Israeli teenagers, now missing for six days. Their failure to pick up any signs of life by Thursday, June 19, points away from the direct involvement of a major terrorist organization, and tends more toward an ad-hoc cell with as few as three or four members. Unlike a large organization, a small cell could operate for long periods off the communication grid.

IDF night operations against Hamas
Ten IDF brigades grind Hamas down, but no trace of kidnapped boys after six days
DEBKAfile Special Report June 18, 2014

The entire Israeli operation is designed to show Hamas in strong language that the old game is over. Kidnapping Israelis will never again yield the release of Palestinian terrorists, only intensify Israel’s determination to crush Hamas’ political, terror, military and financial infrastructures. This piecemeal destruction in Judea and Samaria will, if it fails to produce results, be repeated on Hamas’ home ground in Gaza. But the operation has so far failed in its first object of rescuing the three Israeli teenagers and catching their abductors - and Hamas is preparing to push back.

Epic US-Iran military cooperation in Iraq coincides with Israel’s war on Tehran’s Palestinian ally, Hamas
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report June 17, 2014

On June 16, the US and Iran took their first steps for military cooperation in Iraq, at the same time as Israel declared war on Tehran’s Palestinian ally, Hamas, in the wake of a fruitless four-day sweep of the West Bank Hebron region for three kidnapped Israeli teenagers, and the detention of hundreds of Hamas activists. Israel leaders said this was just the beginning of military pressure on Hamas. debkafile: The  275 troops Obama assigned to Iraq are also the beginning of a wider military intervention against ISIS in collaboration with Iran.

Will Netanyahu use boys’ rescue operation to finally thrash Hamas in Gaza too?
DEBKAfile Exclusive Analysis June 16, 2014

An approaching IDF military operation against Hamas appeared to be building up this week in the wake of the massive IDF effort to rescue the three Israeli boys Hamas kidnapped outside Hebron on June 10. debkafile: It already has a name: “Our Brothers Come Home.” Egypt has reinforced its borders with Israel and Gaza, offering the chance of President Abdule-Fattah El-Sisi’s backing. Israel’s strategic decisions are influenced by the thousands of Iranian Shiite troops battling Sunni Islamists in Iraq. Tehran's success would consolidate Hamas and Jihad Islami domination of Ramallah.

Three Israeli teens believed kidnapped by major terrorist organization. Intensive search continues
DEBKAfile Special Report June 14, 2014

As the massive IDF-Shin Bet hunt for the three teenage boys feared kidnapped Thursday night, June 12, went into its second day, the shape of a large terrorist organization and a carefully planned, step-by-step abduction emerged, under a central command, most likely set up by Hamas. Its communications with the kidnappers were cut off so as not to betray its own location or the hideout of the captors and boys - two 16-year olds from Yeshivot Etzion and a third boy. Officers who thwarted a spate of recent abduction attempts are actively leading the search.
