DEBKAfile Special Report September 2, 2015
The Israeli Navy Wednesday, Sept. 2, staged a defensive exercise, which centered on the elite Shayetet 13 unit practicing the silent, smooth ejection of terrorists who had “captured the Yam Tethys Mediterranean gas field, off Ashkelon. The show's star was the upgraded Barak-8 multipurpose seaborne defense missile. But the key to defense, say debkafile’s military experts, is intelligence for early warning of enemy plans of attack and recording its actions in real time - whether sabotage or missile or drone strike.

DEBKAfile Special Report June 14, 2015
If the breach of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) was conducted by hackers linked to China, as suspected, the secrets of an estimated 41 million US federal employees were laid bare in what may have been the biggest data base theft in cyber history. debkafile: That breach is still ongoing. More malware is buried in the OPM’s infrastructure, ready for a remote signal from the hackers’ command and control centers working for China.

DEBKAfile Special Report May 5, 2015
The two gunmen who Sunday, May 3, tried - and failed - to shoot up an exhibit of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, northeast of Dallas, sounded a wakeup call for US counter-terrorism agencies. Both homegrown Islamists were shot dead. The incident betrayed the “human intelligence” weakness of US and Western agencies – a shortage of undercover agents to mingle in communities which may produce terrorists.

The least appreciated potential cyber threat comes from toy drones in terrorist hands. No counter-measures have been developed against such UAV intrusions as those seen over the White House and Elysée.

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report February 19, 2015
A special debkafile investigation has discovered that the Argentine-Jewish prosecutor Natalio Alberto Nisman, 51, was murdered on Jan. 18 by an Iranian agent posing as a defector calling himself “Abbas Haqiqat-Ju.” The killer struck hours before Nisman showed the Argentine parliament evidence of a cover-up by President Cristina Kirchner of Iran’s complicity in the country’s worst terrorist attack, the 1994 bombing of the Buenos Aires Jewish community center, in which 85 people died, two years after 29 people were killed by a blast at the Israeli embassy. Nisman’s evidence ultimately proved Iran's culpability in the two terrorist attacks.
Information about the US-Iranian nuclear dialogue is no longer “sensitive.” For Obama it’s a done deal
DEBKAfile Special Report February 17, 2015
Accusing Binyamin Netanyahu of leaking “sensitive” information on US nuclear negotiations with Iran skews the fact of an almost done deal between US President Barack Obama and Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani. It wants only Iran’s paramount leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei endorsement. In attempting to bring him round, Washington is using media spin tactics which Netanyahu’s opponents have seized on to accuse him of sabotaging relations with Washington. Netanyahu is not alone in objecting to Obama’s Iran policy. So too do the Saudis, some Gulf emirates and Egypt.

Other captives were set free. Minutes before, Said and Cherif Kouachi died in a shooting attack on the police siege force at a factory near Dammartin-en-Goelle, 40 km northeast of Paris. Iranian specialists failed to capture a sophisticated anti-Hizballah spying device which self-destructed
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report September 7, 2014
Hizballah's sophisticated hi-tech optical fiber communications network links its command centers, units, rocket launchers, senior officials’ homes and intelligence branches. Those communications are also ciphered and hard to intercept and decode. Planting an eavesdropping device sophisticated enough to interface with this network is risky and calls for high technological resources and expertise. Iranian experts, determined to hunt down and dissect one such spying device were thwarted Friday, Sept. 5, when their prize self-destructed and killed a Hizballah operative.
US-Iranian military, intelligence cooperation in war on ISIS reaps first successes in Syria and Iraq
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report September 5, 2014
At least 18 foreign ISIS fighters, including Americans and Europeans, were killed in a Syrian air raid Thursday, Sept. 4, over their Raqqa HQ. A second Syrian air raid killed or injured another group of high ISIS officers at Abu Kamal near the Iraqi border. A day earlier, US jets struck an IS base in the northern Iraqi town of Tal Afar, killing its commander, Abu Hajar Al-Sufi, and two top lieutenants of ISIS chief Abu Baker Al-Baghdadi. All these actions owed their success to deepening US-Iranian military and intelligence cooperation. Is this Obama's unadmitted strategy?

IDF set for electronic and signals control of Hamas, Islamic Jihad command centers, after rocket fire
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report July 26, 2014
Before it ended with Hamas rocket fire Saturday night, July 26, the 12-hour Israel-Hamas ceasefire offered Israeli intelligence a rare opportunity for collecting enemy data. In the heat of battle, the IDF and its clandestine arms were unable to gain electronic and SIGINT access to the underground Hamas and Islamic Jihad command and control centers, which appear to be well equipped with complex tactical and encrypted communications systems. Now they must go for Hamas’ sophisticated intelligence production processing system, elements of which may have broken surface during the ceasefire.
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report July 19, 2014
The outcome of Israel’s Gaza operation may be determined just as much by its unseen battle as by hammering Hamas infrastructure and destroying more than a dozen Hamas terrorist tunnels and infrastructure by Saturday morning, July 19, the 12th day of its fight against Hamas. This battle can’t be fought just with sophisticated high-tech gadgetry. Only “boots on the ground” can provide eyes and ears among the local populace, and the cover for agents trained to operate in an Arab environment to gather the information needed for charting the IDF's moves.
