Three agents bear direct responsibility for the genocidal Syrian war – and the refugee crisis: Bashad Assad, Iran and Russia; and the fourth, the US, by dereliction. Israel stayed out of it, except for supporting a rebel-held strip of southern Syria as a buffer against Iranian, Hizballah or Syrian army encroachment on its northern borders. More than 1,000 wounded Syrian rebels and civilians were treated in Israeli hospitals. Now, too, the Netanyahu government has determined to stay clear of the Syrian refugee crisis. for a number of reasons.

Israel began importing Iraqi Kurdish oil exactly a year ago, at odds with the Obama administration, as debkafile reported at the time. Binyamin Netanyahu and the Barack Obama don’t see to eye to eye - not just on nuclear Iran, but on Middle East policy in general and the autonomous Kurdish republic, in particular. Israel decided to import Kurdish oil - first, because it was cheap at a time of soaring world prices and, second, to provide Kurdistan with revenue to buy the arms withheld by the US for repelling the ISIS advance on Irbil.

Russia and US woo Saudis to help save Assad - albeit putting Israel and Jordan in danger from S. Syria
DEBKAfile Special Report August 9, 2015
Building on the nuclear accord, the Obama administration has been in close communion with Moscow and Tehran on moves to save the Assad regime as the key to ending the Syrian conflict and a united front against the Islamic State. This initiative was to have peaked at the Doha foreign ministers’ meeting on Aug. 3, except that it was blocked by Saudi refusal to acknowledge Assad. The US and Russia hope to change Riyadh’s mind when Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir visits Moscow on Aug. 11. But then, Israel and Jordan would face great peril from southern Syria.
News flash for Obama: With or without a nuclear deal, Hizballah’s Iranian missiles threaten Tel Aviv
DEBKAfile Exclusive Analysis August 5, 2015
President Barack Obama missed the point by warning the 22 Jewish leaders invited to the White House Tuesday, Aug. 3, that if Congress strikes down the Iranian nuclear deal, …”Hizballah rockets will rain down on Tell Aviv” – not on New York. debkafile: Iranian-supplied rockets have repeatedly rained down on Israeli population centers from the 2006 Lebanese war and up to the July 2014 Gaza operation. They hang over Israel today, like yesterday and probably tomorrow, irrespective of whether Congress endorses or throws out Obama’s nuclear deal with Tehran, because they were never part of that deal.

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report June 11, 2015
Israel fears that responding to the Syrian Druze distress call against ISIS will force its entanglement for the first time in the Syrian conflict. A flood of Druze refugees from Jabal Druze would also be hard to absorb.
DEBKAfile Special Report June 11, 2015
Israel has a historic commitment to its Druze citizens and so the dangers besetting more than half a million of their distressed Syrian brethren on Jabal Druze, 88 km from its border, and 38 km from Jordan, confronts the Netanyahu government with a grave dilemma. Conceding to Israeli Druze leaders’ demand to send them arms would draw Israel out of its long abstention from direct involvement in the Syrian conflict. But refusing many thousands of Druze refugees admission, if put to flight by Islamists, is not an option, which may not be precluded anyway by sending weapons.
