Marik al-Tuwayha, has been sentenced to life in prison with hard labor for killing three US military trainers last November as their vehicles approached the al-Jafr airbase where they were training Jordanian army troops in counter-terror tactics. The victims were Staff Sgt Matthew Lewellen, from Missouri, Staff Sgt Kevin McEnroe from Arizona and Staff Sgt James Moriarty, from Texas. Their families charged the trial was rigged for a cover-up to conceal the killer's motive..

In its first arms sale to an Arab country, revealed here by debkafile, Israel has sold Jordan 12 advanced unmanned aerial vehicles of the Heron TP and Skylark types. They are urgently needed by the Jordanian Royal Air Force to beef up its cross-border counter-terrorism campaign against ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Like other joint US-Israeli-Jordanian operations ongoing against the Islamic State, the Herons and Skylarks are almost certainly being operated by officers at the US Central Command Forward-Jordan war room north of Amman. Israel earlier donated 16 Cobras to Jordan’s air force.

For two conjoined military exercises with Israel (Juniper Cobra) and Jordan (Eager Lion), the US has moved more than 6,000 Marines to the kingdom and several thousand servicemen to Israel. The Jordanian drill lasts from Sunday, May 25 to June 8. The US-Israeli exercise began this week with another 6,000 combat personnel arriving from the US European Command and 1,000 airmen to operate missile defense systems. Wednesday, May 21, border tensions shot up on the news of large Hizballah military contingents on the move toward southern Syria.
