Russian security services launched an intensive hunt Tuesday, Jan. 21 for suspected Islamist bomber Ruzana Ibragimova, 22, known also as Salima or the White Widow, who was last seen on a street in Sochi, which hosts the Feb. 7-23 Winter Olympic Games. Some Russian sources report that not one but three female bombers are at large. US forces are assisting Russian security to secure the Games. A vast 2,400-kilometer “ring of steel” enclosing Sochi and manned by 40,000 Russian personnel is the broadest security area ever provided for an Olympic event.

Israeli special forces joined the Kenyan military in storming the Westgate shopping mall, Sunday, Sept. 22, to break the standoff with a dozen Al Qaeda-linked Somali Al Shabaab gunmen barricaded there with hostages. The death toll from the terrorists' shooting-grenade attack Saturday has risen to 59 with 205 injured. Along with the hostages, an unknown number of injured or dead victims remains trapped in the building including foreigners. debkafile reported earlier that the AQAP-backed Somali terrorists singled out the mall to hit two targets – Kenya and Israel.

The missile launcher destroyed by an Israeli drone in North Sinai Friday, Aug. 9 was capable of firing 4 heavy Iranian-made M-75 missiles known as Fajr-5, which Hamas possesses, but not Sinai Salafists. Its 75 kilometer range covers Tel Aviv from Gaza Strip or Eilat from inland Sinai. The five terrorists planning to fire them at Eilat airport Thursday were later killed in the drone strike. An Egyptian intelligence tip-off to Israel saved Eilat.  Two years ago, Fajr-5 proved its high accuracy by leveling a building in Rishon Lezion near Tel Aviv.

Armed with up-to-date Egyptian weapons, this militia is to be charged with responsibility for maintaining security. Israel is taxed with a new headache in the south.

To buy the Israeli soldier's freedom – probably next week – Israel will hand over 1,027 Palestinian terrorists so cutting short the multiple life sentences of 280 mass murderers responsible for hundreds of Israeli deaths. Hamas leaders pledge more kidnappings until all 8,000 jailed Palestinians are freed.

Just four days after the much-heralded opening of the Rafah crossing between the Palestinian Gaza Strip and Sinai, Cairo virtually shut it down Tuesday, May 31, by a series of tight bureaucratic measures in response to a US warning that since the crossing's opening, Palestinian and al Qaeda terrorists had been roaming at large across Sinai exposing the Suez Canal to attack. After the US informed Jerusalem of the new restrictions, an Israeli defense official arrived in Cairo to discuss security coordination.

An Israeli border patrol intercepted and fought off a band of armed terrorists carrying explosives as they crossed into southern Israel through the Egyptian border of Sinai  opposite the Israeli desert town of Mitzpe Ramon early Wednesday, June 16. One terrorist was killed in the ensuing firefight - the rest, at least seven, fled back across the border. Investigation will try and determine if the came from Gaza or the al Qaeda cells in Sinai.
