DEBKAfile Exclusive Report March 29, 2015
President Barack Obama and John Kerry promised that the nuclear deal to be signed with Iran in Switzerland this week would give the world powers a year’s warning from the Islamic Republic’s break out to an operational weapon. debkafile: To clinch the framework deal in Lausanne, even this concession, which imperils Israel, the Gulf and the Middle East at large, was not enough. The president authorized the US delegation to fall back again and cut the space granted the world powers for reaction to breakthrough from a year to six or seven months:

Salehi’s Arak “deal” – cover-up for 1,300 kg enriched uranium smuggled to Parchin for secret upgrade
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report April 20, 2014
Iran’s Ali Akbar Salehi’s offer Saturday, April 19, “to redesign” the controversial Arak reactor to produce one-fifth of the plutonium initially planned was a piece of misdirection. debkafile reveals that Tehran has secretly smuggled 1,300 kilos of low-grade uranium to Parchin, the military facility barred to inspectors, and installed there 1,630 banned advanced centrifuges for their rapid upgrade in secret to 20 percent enrichment. The IAEA was deceived into reporting that Iran had left itself with “substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium needed for a nuclear warhead.”
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report November 21, 2013
The Iranian team faced the six world powers in Geneva Thursday, Nov. 21, with strict orders not to give ground on the two major sticking points for a first-step deal on their nuclear program: The heavy water reactor under construction at Arak for plutonium production and Iran’s “right” to uranium enrichment. debkafile: If Tehran wins those two points, any other concessions it may offer are worthless, because Iran will be left in possession of two optional nuclear weaponizing tracks instead of one - plutonium as well as enriched uranium.
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report November 14, 2013
Nuclear watchdog Director Yukiya Amano was cold-shouldered by Iran’s leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei although Foreign Minister Javad Zarif promised the Obama administration he would be received during his visit Monday, Nov. 11. That meeting was to have signaled the ayatollah’s go-ahead for continuing talks on Iran’s nuclear program after they were bogged down in Geneva. That go-ahead remains unavailable. debkafile: Tehran has accelerated nuclear enrichment; the production of centrifuges and their installation; and construction at the Arak heavy water plant.

The Fordo explosion story was never credible from the start. Why it was given wide credence by political and intelligence insiders and the world media remains a mystery.
DEBKAfile Special Report November 4, 2012
Sources in Tehran put out word Sunday, Nov, 4, that Iran had suddenly suspended 20-percent uranium enrichment. An Iranian lawmaker called it a "goodwill" gesture ahead of a new round of talks with the US directly after the presidential election. Two days before the vote, Tehran is transparently throwing its weight behind Obama by suggesting to the American voter that he can solve the nuclear crisis without resorting to war and is Iran’s preferred partner for talks.
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report August 3, 2012
An Iran war has become inevitable since international diplomacy gave Iran the time and freedom to accelerate its progress towards a nuclear bomb. While rapidly fortifying its nuclear facilities against bombardment, Tehran is also raising the level of uranium enrichment, developing dirty bombs and sending terrorists to blow up Israelis abroad. Sanctions have failed to force Iran to give up its drive for a nuclear weapon or the development of nuclear-capable ballistic missiles. These dangerous developments are generating the current an eve-of-war climate.

Iran is now going for the nuclear jackpot of weapons-grade enriched uranium after tricking the West into accept its phased advance from 3.5 percent to 20 percent and now 80-90 percent enrichment.
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report February 17, 2012
The White House expects talks to start in days and lead to the halting of Iran’s nuclear program development and nuclear enrichment and the dismantling of its nuclear weapons facilities and labs. Israel’s Binyamin Netanyahu is less sanguine, says sanctions or not working and slams Iran as “the most irresponsible power on earth today.”
DEBKAfile Special Report February 16, 2012
By suddenly stating, contrary to all informed estimates, that Iran’s nuclear arms program has not yet reached the point of no return, Israel’s Defense Minister Ehud Barak implied that Israel was in no hurry to strike its nuclear facilities, a message for which Washington has been angling for months. His words Thursday Feb. 16 contradicted the evaluations of the current and former Israeli Military Intelligence chiefs. debkafile attributes Barak’s re-evaluation to reports of US-Iranian agreement to resume nuclear talks soon.
DEBKAfile Special Report January 11, 2012
Forty-eight hours after Iran launched advanced uranium enrichment at Fordo, Prof. Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan, deputy director of the Natanz uranium enrichment facility, was killed early Wednesday, Jan. 11 by a sticky bomb planted on his car by two motorcyclists. It exploded near the Sharif technological university in northern Tehran. In Washington, US Navy and Air Force chiefs leveled on plans for unblocking Hormuz - part of President Obama's effort to persuade Saudi Arabia that the US was serious about military action against Iran.
DEBKAfile Special Report December 15, 2011
Iran says all its nuclear facilities, including uranium enrichment centrifuges, are now underground and safe from US and Israeli attack. Israeli Defense Minister Barak has warned that once underground, Iran's nuclear infrastructure could no longer be attacked and no one would know when a start was made on a nuclear weapon. debkafile:Iran has obtained from North Korea the special metals for advanced uranium enrichment up to weapons grade - contrary to Western claims that their short supply had stalled enrichment.
DEBKAfile Special Report June 3, 2011
By April 2011, Iran had accumulated a quantity of U-235 that can be enriched in short order to sufficient 90 percent (weapons grade) uranium to fuel four nuclear bombs - and attained "virtual" nuclear weapon state. This was revealed by the Wisconsin Project on Nuclear Arms Control, America's scientific watchdog on world nuclear weapons production, in its June 2 report. By breaking the IAEA seal at the Natanz enrichment plant, Iran gained another 6-7 months for concealing the work there.
