A Syrian-Hizballah buildup for a leap on Jordan’s border, cause for US, Israeli concern

A large Syrian army/Hizballah force is massing at Izra in the southern Daraa region poised to fight through to the Jordanian border and come within reach of Quneitra.  This is reported by DEBKAfile’s military sources. The big Izra base also houses the Iranian command for eastern Syria. Bashar Assad has freed up substantial military strength for his drive to capture the south after beating back rebel forces from the Damascus area and proclaiming it under his control. The strength piling up at Izra consists of elements of the 4th Armored Division, as well as the 5th, 7th and 9th Divisions, paired with Hizballah reinforcements. They are armed with fresh Russian arms deliveries of Golan 1000 missile launchers and the new version of the Kornet D anti-tank missiles which can hit targets within a range of 8-9 km.
Our sources report that these units are preparing to drive south, knock over the rebel militias holding positions in the southeast and break through to the Syrian-Jordanian border crossing at Nasib. This is not the Syrian army’s first expedition with this goal, but hitherto they were pushed back by the rebels when the Russian command denied them air support at US and Jordanian insistence. This time, Russian intentions are unknown.

The US and Israeli commanders are watching the buildup at Izra with concern. Should a Syrian government force manage to fight its way through to the Jordanian border, backed by Hizballah and Iranian commanders, it would pose a threat to the US contingents posted in northern Jordan and embedded in the Syrian-Jordanian-Iraqi border triangle. Their presence there would be just a hop and a jump away from the Syrian Golan town of Quneitra and the Israeli border to the east, which is causing anxiety in Israel.

yeah, we can’t allow Syrian government forces on the Syrian border fighting a Zionist backed multi national insurgency. Any fool can see.

So are you are a big fan of Assad and Hezbollah? How would you like them overtaking your town or to live under their rule (assuming they let you live)?

Where Hezbollah goes so goes Iran. Thrust and counter thrust round about Israel…

One concerning aspect of this chain of events is constant enemy movement not met by Israel, or US forces. Another action aimed at probing US/Israeli reaction. Does Iranian leadership understand eventual strike back into their sovereign territory is inevitable?

As for America, 10.000 plus Iranian military age males are in the USA below the radar. American utilities and food distribution are sabotage targets and assuming worst case, North American EMP event, American Famine Hedge is lacking. USA Iranian policy coupled with lack of Civil Defense preparedness invites homeland attack; US electronic controlled motor transport systems are very vulnerable to disabling Magnetic Pulse. As noted, US strategic railway reach is not what we had in Vie tNam era and previous.

You keep positing these farfetched scenarios like “EMP” and “US famine”. Come to America and drive around for a couple days. Then describe to me any weapon and who controls it, that could pulse a major city offline – now tell me who has enough of these and the means to use them across dozens of major cities thousands of miles apart. Basement fantasy.

Famine – the giant distances between the coasts is full of tractors, irrigation, and a diverse agriculture with the best technology in the world. Who could take enough of this offline to put us at risk of hunger? How would they accomplish this?

Your exposing statement – again with zero backup and zero link to reality – “10000+ Iranian military aged males” lying in wait??? The number of hard dick veterans running around the US, armed to the teeth, is twenty times that number, and is a reality that can be verified through publicly available information. Those vets of Iraq and Afghanistan are praying the day will come when Muslim saboteurs dare to strike on our soil. Please continue to foment that type of action, we are in need of some target practice. Or leave Mom’s basement and enter the real world where you stand on your own to feet, to make a real impact, not sitting behind a keyboard making threats when you have zero spine to take action yourself.

A very clear exposition. Now explain that to Richard Clarke, and , while you are at it, give us a rundown on the events in San Jose . Seek the reasons it took years to repair the substation because US does not have ability to manufacture certain critical transformer parts.

Appreciate your reading Ted Koppel on Cyberwarfare & William Forschen “ONE SECOND AFTER” and share your conclusions in circle before next writing on the topic of Famine Hedge.

If the young people in Iran are protesting whats going on with the Mullahs, what makes you think 10,000 in America wouldn’t have the same political view? Everything the US need for war is station in the middle east, there is no need for a Iraq like military build-up.

Americans and Israelis share the same method to speak little and hit hard, unlike the buffoons who are on the other side, who make so many words and then fall silent when the clashes arise. Perhaps Syrian Islamic Syrians, if they try, will return home but inside comfortable coffins.

The whole problem with such tactics to hit har and not speak , is they are not prone to small talk , and constant harassment–it only matter of time , that their borders will be penetrated , if not already . And Anglo Saxon Israeli style of fighting pretense is just good for government keeping coalition together .No win in such , and since constant war acts will eventually destroy Israel , its better bad peace agreement .

This is what not properly arming the Syrian rebels has led to which is giving Iran and Hezbollah an advantage.
Russia has not spared arming Hezbollah with everything. Unfortunately, the Syrian rebels have not been properly nor fully armed. What the Iranians do is they keep trying as many times as possible until they win the battle. However, no matter how hard they try, without any Russian air support, they don’t win.

I remember another situation where the US armed the rebels with better equipment that they had; they kicked out the Russian invaders and then turned on the US on 911. Do we really want to repeat the same mistake. In the Middle East you don’t know who your enemy will be tomorrow, it may be a friend today but tomorrow who knows..

What if the T4 was a gambit sacrifice?
Russians are diabolic, and it is about time for them to show weapons superiority in order to sell more expensive systems.
Anyhow it is a stand off, half of the IDF is at the northern border.

How comes such a large rocket like the Golan 1000 missile flies only 6 km?
I say this is big Russian intoxication!
Besides, such a large launcher if it has to come so close to the intended target, finds itself in visual range for field artillery and antitank weapons.

The anxiety is not that Syria will allow Iran proxies too near Golan nor is it a push to liberate Golan nor are American forces in danger. The anxiety is that rebels will be crushed and pre invasion political norms restablished at the border crossings. The anxiety is the Syrian government is restored.

anyone who is aware of the Sharon-Rice Doctrine knows that the long term plan was always to lure as many jihadi’s to the Iraq-Syria frontier to their final burial places, while the US lured Iran and its prized IRG’s to die along side Hezbollah, while the US and Saudi Arabia come into Iran from the other sides.

The Israeli Air Force has bases in Georgia, and other secret locations, including Saudi Arabia, who has long ago publicly announced that the IAF has their blessing to use their runways to attack Iran.

Don’t discount for a moment that the Saudi’s have a King; the Iranians, do not and that the modern day Israeli’s started their lineage, in ancient Iraq

the IDF has not even called in reserves,

and, no ground force will be permitted to approach the Israeli border, they will be fully eliminated where they stand, and Assad has fought too long to only now lose to Israel,

Assad is preferred as he is not a hot head, and wants only to rule Syria, without ambition beyond his borders,

I would love to see him turn north to rub Turkey and Erdogan into the sands of time, which is likely the goal of Russia, who will soon turn on Iran, when the USA offers Turkey’ for dinner

Daraa will be free from all terrorists sponsored by westerners,Israelis, and Arab vassals whether they liked or not. I wonder why Americans support Al Qaeda in Syria not in Somalia. Since 2001 it’s becoming clear that Al Qaeda was a tool for western intelligence.
