American Journalist Taken Hostage in Pakistan
A Pakistani Islamic group linked to al Qaeda, calling itself the National Movement for the Restoration of Pakistani Sovereignty, claims to be holding missing journalist, Daniel Pearl, 38. Covering Islamic terror movements for the Wall Street Journal, he left home in Karachi Wednesday, January 23, to meet two people who presented themselves as sources with contacts in the terrorist network. On Monday, January 28, the Pakistani group published Pearl’s photo showing him bound with a gun at his head. The reporter was being held in the same humiliating conditions as al Qaeda captivates at CampX in GuantanamoBay and would not be released until al Qaeda and Taliban prisoners received better treatment.
