Iran converts thousands of Hizballah missiles into precision weapons

The heightened Iranian-Syrian air cargo traffic this month is tied in by DEBKAfile’s intelligence sources with Iran’s Precision Project for Hizballah’s missiles. World media reported on Wednesday, April 25, that US intelligence is watching an active Iranian-Syrian air corridor for military freights with concern, suspecting its cargoes may hold weapons for use against Israel. This report reflected the rising alarm in the United States and Israel over the discovery that Iran is in the last stages of a huge project, the upgrading of Hizballah’s ground-to-ground and shore-to-sea missiles and their conversion into precision weapons.

Intensified Iranian-Syrian air traffic was detected in the wake of the April 13 US-UK-French air strikes on Syrian chemical sites, including at least two Syrian Air Force Il-76 cargo jets flying between Iran and Syria. DEBKAfile’s military and intelligence sources report that these flights most likely carried equipment and engineering personnel for Iran’s Precision Project for upgrading a portion of Hizballah’s arsenal. This project, under the direction of Al Qods chief Gen. Qassem Soleimani, recently went into high gear. The engineering crews, who began arriving in Syria and Lebanon in February, are believed to have finished retooling several thousand of Hizballah’s short-range and medium-missiles and expected to meet their full target in the summer.
This project has wide connotations. US intelligence sources believe that the recent escalation of missile fire by the Iranian-backed Yemeni Houthis against Saudi targets on land and the Red Sea, stems not just from increased Iranian deliveries to the Houthis through Oman, but also serves the missile experts of Iran and Hizballah for testing the efficacy of the newly upgraded Hizballah missiles. The missile fire on Saudi oil tankers sailing through the Bab al Mandeb Straits and the Red Sea is seen as providing trial runs for the weapons newly outfitted for targeting tankers and other shipping bound for Israel’s Mediterranean ports, as well as its offshore gas rigs closest to Lebanon.

Several hundred million have been trying to defeat Israel in battle for 70 years without making any progress, and Israel hasn’t even polished off its nukes in all that time, which basically guarantee that it will never be defeated either. Besides, Israel has hundreds of millions of allies of its own who believe in its basic right to exist as a sovereign democratic state and will come to its assistance if a genocide ever looked imminent.

Israel has never ruled over more than a few million at a time, never could, and has never tried to do so. That having been said, I personally think that if those few hundred million want to take another crack at Israel, it should be their last opportunity to do so, and Israel should start annexing, depopulating and settling new territories on a permanent basis, carved from portions of Lebanon, Syria and any other regional aggressors that want to ignore Israel’s right to peaceful existence under international law.

There is some logic to what you are saying but there are perspective problems.

Take a quick look at the Tet Offensive? Militarily the US and South Vietnamese forces devastated the North Vietnamese/Chinese forces. It was an incredible/catastrophic defeat for the North.

But here in the USA our idiotic press portrayed it as a defeat for the USA and the South and as clear evidence that we were doomed. The propaganda turned the Tet Offensive into a huge political and geopolitical win for the North.

When defining victory and defeat you have to understand that there are multiple perspectives and that the perspective and goals of your OPFOR may not have much relation to your own perspective and goals. What you perceive as a victory your OPFOR and your OPFOR’s allies might view as a victory for THEM. There will also be important perspectives and linkages outside those of your (and your allies) and those of your OPFOR (and its allies).

If you really want a persistent and final victory you have to meet the conditions for victory from your own perspective as well as the OPFOR’s perceived conditions for defeat (and add in their allies as well). This can be a complex endeavor but it is the only way you achieve a true strategic victory.

We in the USA keep perceiving victory but in some cases our OPFOR is achieving their goals.

For instance, if you look at Hamas and the PA? Their leadership has been wildly successful from their point of view. They have had the USA and others enriching them beyond their dreams and multiple administrations have kept arming and training their terrorists so that they could keep sort of holding the Israeli population hostage to terror – which would drive the USA to give them more money, arms, and training.

The Iranian leadership has grown fabulously wealthy while we and our allies kept sending them our money. They haven’t yet destroyed Israel, but that isn’t their primary goal. We keep playing the short game and they keep playing the long game.

I’m not going to try to claim I know exactly how it will all turn out or exactly how we should be behaving (I don’t get the necessary briefings and intel) but I do know that it is vital to remember that our perspective and goals are not the only ones out there and sometimes may not be the most important ones (unless they include understanding the OPFOR and defeating/destroying them from THEIR perspective).

Thank you very much for your detailed thoughts. It would be very difficult for any adversary of Israel’s to convince its own followers or the world at large that is had achieved victory in battle, if the only lasting consequence is a loss of precious territory accompanied by the failure to capture any from Israel, together with severe economic and military losses. Furthermore, in addition to the obvious psychological value, it critically weakens enemies every time they choose war, while strengthening Israel and giving it vital strategic depth that makes every subsequent conflict that much more lop-sided in its favour.

Israel should have kept the territories it captured from Lebanon in 2006, and expelled any hostile populations loyal to Hezbollah in the process, ignoring any one-sided demands from the UN. It should only have returned those territories upon the unconditional return of Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev’s bodies, the extradition to Israel of all Hezbollah soldiers and officers involved in their murder, and full, unconditional Hezbollah compliance with the terms of the ceasefire resolution. Resolution of the next major conflict should not involve Israel acceding to any international demands that guarantee an even bigger conflict in the future.

And they defeated it , just in 1973 , if Americans would not make a deal with Russians , there would be street to street fights all over Israel . They were started to give weapons to the population , since the lines were broken , and Egypt were not far fro, going via Gasa anywhere they wanted . I forgot , the Israelis announced that they will use nukes . But if they would they would destroy themselves as well , since the crude crap they might have had , would not be good for anyone . Still it was all lie . What Israelis got from that win anyone remembers ? Lost Yamit , Refedim , Suez access , Sharma Shech , all the bases and small towns in Sinai , Oil rigs , Gas facilities , Water mains , Pipelines, electrical plants , underground facilities . Pure gain was Gaza with 2.5 million population Egyptians gave to that “Genius” Begin and Golda . As well they got never ending wars , American bases in Negev , that transformed it to the most irradiated place on earth with the help of Dimona nuke facility. That was the win alright….

The objective stats don’t back your blathering spin. Egypt and Syria each took much heavier casualties and equipment losses than Israel, and had much less they could afford to lose from the start. Russia threatened to invade Israel before the US got involved and agreed to impose a ceasefire, and the reason Russia was the first to threaten direct intervention is because the Egyptian army was on the verge of collapse. Egypt recaptured a small patch of the Sinai that they lost in 1967, completely isolated and surrounded and only protected by a UN ceasefire, whereas Israel captured large swathes of African continental Egypt and came close to completely surrounding Cairo to put it under siege.

Egypt only got the Sinai back in exchange for being the first Arab nation to recognize Israel, demilitarizing the Sinai and maintaining the most quiet border ever since. If that’s a win for Egypt, then it’s a win-win for everyone involved, because Israel didn’t have to give Egypt anything it didn’t already possess at the very start.

The Iranians will fire their missiles, however, they won’t reach their targets. The flesh will fall off the bodies of the Iranian soldiers, however, their weapons will survive. Once again, the Persians will suffer an ignominious defeat.

This things are known up-comings… The question is why Israel is not gearing Kurds up to the teeth? Israel can try to convince Suuds and BAE to welcome Kurdish State to restrict Iran and Turkey in the Middle East. If Israel can bring some European countries and some of the Gulf Countries together in Erbil, they may have chance to change the game for their own interest. Otherwise, as the Turkish President Erdogan’s news agencies are claiming “Jewish States are not able stand more than 70-80 yrs, and Israel will collapse soon as well” forthcoming will be true. It is because Judaism has been maligned and targeted ever since the establishment of Christianity and Islam I suggest that you all just enjoy your own religions in peace and leave Israel out of it. Find creative ways to improve your own religions and make them less spiteful, jealous, hateful and greedy…and end your beliefs in seeing Israel wiped out so that you may prosper, Your prosperity has nothing to do with eliminating Jews and in ending their one state. Everyone can prosper at the same time – it is not a zero-sum game.

So, let’s read the rest of Yeshaya 17, shall we?

4And it shall come to pass on that day, that the glory of Jacob shall become impoverished and the fatness of his flesh shall become emaciated.
5And it shall be like gathering the harvest of the standing grain, and his arm reaps ears, and he shall be as one who gathers ears of grain in the valley of Rephaim.(That is the valley that is before Jerusalem.)
6And gleanings shall be left in it like the cutting of an olive tree, two or three berries at the end of the uppermost bough; four or five on its branches when it produces fruit, says the Lord, God of Israel.
7On that day, man shall turn to his Maker, and his eyes shall look to the Holy One of Israel.

IMHO, if Hezbollah and/or Iran forcefully attack Israel, Israel will respond with nuclear weapons regardless of the casualties upon Lebanon or Iran. Add that the USA will join in the Israeli response, wherein Russia and China won’t do a thing for fear of their own destruction.

This is what happens when the enemies are not finished off, or forced into complete unconditional surrender. They regroup and attack again, over and over.
Teaching them a lesson is not enough, not when they are not capable of learing anything.

This had to be expected. The longer war is delayed, the more the enemy will have time to prepare. Iran is using the Yemen war to test and refine it’s missile tech. That we sit back and let this happen is a tragedy. The delay created in the name of peace has allowed the enemies of Israel and the Free World to develop systems, weapons, and alliances that will cause the death of millions when the war starts at a time of their own choosing.

Now this has come to light, it can only be very bad news for iran. Now all their weapons are even more dangerous – this just means that even more powerful counter-measures will be taken…and the US knows that
it wont be able to stop Israel from using WMD’s to smash iran and its allies if it has too. The iranians really are led by very stupid, suicidal people.

Is this upgrade of dumb area weapons into precision weapons not a good thing?

It means in the next war Hizballah need not launch hundreds of missiles to destroy a target causing a potentially large loss of civilian lives. With precision weapons Hizballah will now have the capacity to selectively destroy economic and military targets without risking civilian lives.

With an estimated 100’000+ missiles in there armory they have sufficient stores to destroy those targets anyway. The benefit now is that they can do so without needless collateral damage within Israel.

Time to arm the Syrian opposition to the teeth with heavy weapons and MANPADS. The U.S. has done Iran two big favors. It got rid of two of its biggest opponents without Iran doing it themselves. It got rid of Saddam Hussein in Iraq and it got rid of ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Surely, why cannot the United States destroy these Iranian planes since they are obviously flying over territory in Iraq and Syria that the United States controls. Surely, if the U.S. can directly use its air force to help Shiite militias controlled by Iran against ISIS that have killed more U.S. soldiers in Iraq than ISIS ever has in Iraq and Syria, then why cannot the U.S. destroy these Iranian supply planes?

The Israeli’s have lost their nerve. Go on, then, what are you waiting for? Waiting for everyone to be all gunned up for the attack before you do anything about it? Or just waiting for the Americans to attack first. You’ll be waiting a long time. Once everything ready to go they will attack Israel. Why wait? Attack now and at least that way you’ll have a few hundred thousand people left. If you wait, it’ll be zero.

I would have thougth that Israel would be happy that the missiles are more accurate.

That means they can be fired at Legitimate Military targets rather than being innaccurate and hitting Israeli Civilian Infrastructure during the coming war that Israel is going to start.

If Israel’s military loses the war to “accurate missiles” then the surviving Israeli Jewish population will be starved in ghettos. The starved bodies will be efficiently burnt in crematoriums without clogging the ovens with burnt fat. Israelis already have this experience stored in their DNA i.e. they will not hesitate to nuke their opponents even if the entire world will resent them posthumously. The entire world has been hating the Jews and destroying the state of Israel for thousands of years, eventually there will be a pay back time though nobody knows when and how harsh.
