An IDF company commander was seriously hurt and a Border Guard officer injured when they were run down early Monday, March 4, by a Palestinian car at the Palestinian village of Nimma near the Doar Junction outside Israeli Dolev. The IDF commander is undergoing surgery at Tel Hashomer hospital. On a mission to detain terrorist suspects, the two officers’ vehicle broke down and they got out to stand guard and await assistance. A Palestinian car with three men crashed into them and sped off, but then came under fire from the rest of the unit. Two of the attackers were killed and a third was captured. This attack is typical of a spate of terrorist incidents in recent months in the Binyamin region.
Subsequent investigation discovered that the three terrorists had come from a bottle-bomb attack on a military checkpoint on Rte. 443 between Jerusalem and Modi’in. Found in the car they used to ram the soldiers was a supply of bottle bombs for more highway attacks.
