Lockdown eases, restrictions stay as virus cases cross the 10,000 mark

Another 13 coronavirus fatalities in a 24-hour span lifted Israel’s death toll to 92 Friday morning, April 10. The number of confirmed cases crossed the line to 10,095, including 164 in serious condition, while 1,060 recovered.

The virtual curfew imposed on Tuesday, Passover Eve, was lifted early Friday, although all the former restrictions for containing the spread of covid-19 remained in force. Leaving home is still permitted only on essential work or errands such as shopping for food, except for a 100-meter perimeter and no public gatherings are allowed. From Sunday, face masks will be obligatory outside the home. Public transport will be partially restored.
The gradual restart of normal economic activity in the country after the Passover festival at the end of next week will depend, said Health Minister Yakov Litzman, on the public’s strict adherence to the social distancing guidelines for as long as necessary.
