​Police clash with violent anti-G20 protesters in Hamburg

“Welcome to hell! said a placard lofted by protesters in the huge crowd of more than 100,000 demonstrators rallying Thursday against the Friday-Saturday G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany. When the protests turned violent, Swat teams were mobilized to support some 20,000 helmeted German police using water cannon and tear gas. As world leaders arrived for the summit, the demonstrators marched through the city after gathering outside Hamburg’s weekly fish market. They were held back by the city’s police force boosted by reinforcements from around the country.
