Russian air force, Syrian army repel ISIS recapture of Palmyra
Hours after ISIS forces re-took parts of the Syria town of Palmyra, Syrian forces with heavy Russian air backing forced them Sunday to withdraw with heavy casualties. According to the Russian defense ministry, more than 200 ISIS fighters were killed in 64 air strikes. In May lat year, ISIS captured several Syrian towns including the UNESCO heritage town of Palmyra and were forced out in March by Syrian forces backed by Russia.
