10,000 Turkish troops attack PKK cells in three cities

The Turkish army announced Sunday that 10,000 of its troops, supported by tanks, attacked the southern cities of Cizre, Silopi and Diyarbakir in order to root out PKK terror cells. This is believed to be the largest force ever deployed inside Turkey against the violent separatist Kurdish group.
DEBKAfile: The Turkish operation demonstrated Ankara’s fury over the support the US and Russia was extending to the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia in its battle against ISIS near the Turkish border. This militia is fighting with the aid of PKK elements.
