French-Jewish Holocaust survivor found burned to death
The 85-year old Jewish Holocaust survivor had filed complaints against a Muslim neighbor who had threatened to burn her. Le Parisien newspaper reported that she was found dead Friday in her incinerated apartment on Avenue Philippe Auguste in the Paris 11^th arrondissement. A French-Jewish security organization (BNVCA) said the victim of the atrocity – named as “Mireille K” – had been stabbed 11 times and five fires set in her apartment. A suspect is being questioned by the police. Last year, the French-Jewish community was shaken by the murder in Paris of 65-year-old pensioner Sarah Halimi. She was beaten in her apartment, also in the 11th arrondissement, by an Islamist assailant and thrown from a third-story window. Last month, a French court ruled that the case would be prosecuted as an anti-Semitic hate crime.
