Russia in sharp warning over US destroyer in Black Sea
The arrival of the USS destroyer Carney in the Black Sea on Sunday drew a sharp response from Moscow. Members of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee of Russia’s upper house said that Moscow’s response would not be off the cuff but carefully planned and take place “within the program of Russia’s security control of the Black Sea.” Washington challenges Moscow’s claim to exclusive security control of the Black Sea and defines it as an international water that should be accessible to the warships of all nations.
