A 4,400-year old tomb discovered near the pyramids outside Cairo

The 4,400-year old tomb belonged to a woman called Hetpet, thought to be close to ancient Egyptian royals, Mostafa Al-Waziri, leader of the archeological expedition which found the tomb, believes. The walls are brightly painted with hunting and fishing scenes. They also depict a monkey, commonly kept in ancient Egypt as domestic animals, snatching fruit in once scene and dancing before an orchestra in another. Giza’s western necropolis houses the tombs of the highest official of Egypt’s Old Kingdom.
