A Belarus referendum said to support nuclear weapons deployment

The Lukashenko government in Minsk reported that 65,16 pc of the participants in a national referendum voted in favor of the positioning of nuclear weapons and Russian forces in Belarus. President Alexander Lukashenko said sanctions are worse than war and could push Russia towards World War Three. Talking to reporters on Monday, he urged restraint by all parties since an outbreak of world hostilities might lead to a nuclear conflict.
