Up to 12 US F-22A Raptor stealth jets have touched down at the US Air Base Al Udeid in Qatar. They further bolster US air strength in the Gulf for confronting potential hostile actions by Iran, said a US military official on Saturday. He added: “More tactical assets are being moved to the Gulf area in the coming days.” DEBKAfile last week reported the arrival of the USS Boxer helicopter carrier with  2,200 Marines opposite the Iranian shore.

    “…boosting strength facing Iran…”?? There is and has been enough hardware there already to wipe out a few countries many times over and the Iranians know it, why send more? The usual yank over reaction. Better way would’ve been to find out why a 130 million dollar piece of junk is being produced by the yanks that can’t get away fast enough when attacked by a 7th century missile!

      David, the idea is to NOT have “just enough”, but to have overwhelming capability when the balloon goes up. It would be grossly irresponsible to our young service men and women put into harms way to get into a slugging match against evenly match forces. I realize you don’t care about their lives, but we do.

        Destroying entire cities with civilians by bombing (conventional or nuclear) is no longer acceptable unless you’re Russian, Chinese, Iranian, North Korean.

        Western politics will not tolerate that.

        Decapitating enemy leadership with precision strikes, and bombing nuclear weapons manufacturing with bunched busters is acceptable.

        However, if you were a Middle East country with a nuclear weapon, and wanted to use it against the “great satan” of the west, you wouldn’t want it to be seen as unjustified by the world…

        Experts believe Iran may have acquired nuclear capability as far back as 2015. Possibly, they could have purchased a loose Russian Cold War weapon long ago.

        They may just want justification for using a nuclear weapon against the US.

        Trump made the right call in wanting a proportionate response. Need to play the long game here and have some global consensus before flattening the IRGC.

How many times has the arm chair folk criticized the US hardware, only to be proven in time over and over again, idiots… When you push the latest tech, you are bound to have problems. The 130 million as you say, doesn’t have to get away from anything. If something get close to it, it’s because it allowed it… For every negative story you can find, I can find half a dozen pro… You need to work on your 7th century missile, whatever that may be…

    Have a bad feeling that even with all of the USN operational on-board defense resources, the US might still lose a carrier and its complement, with any survivors being taken hostage if not rescued by the US navy, first.
    Talk about a possible nightmare.
