A police officer killed in gunfight on Cairo outskirts

The policeman was shot dead in an exchange of fire during a security operation against armed groups in the Kerdasah district on the outskirts of Cairo Thursday. They stormed the area to arrest people accused of torching police stations and killing about 11 security officers in clashes that erupted following the army's ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi last July. Police forces were not allowed in Kerdasah since then. In the capital, several metro lines were closed after two unexploded bombs were found on the tracks at South Cairo station
