A US grand jury indicts 19 people for attacking anti-Erdogan protesters

The indictments charged 19 defendants, including Turkish security officials, with attacking a peaceful demonstration against President Tayyip Erdogan during his meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House on May 16.  They are charged with conspiracy to commit a crime of violence, a felony punishable by a statutory maximum of 15 years in prison. Several face additional charges of assault with a deadly weapon. Some of the defendants were members of Erdogan's security detail who returned with him to Turkey.
