About 12% of Syria’s residents killed or wounded since war began: report

According to the findings of a Syrian research institute reported on Thursday, more than 470,000 people have been killed in Syria, twice as many as the total in the UN report on the situation in the country. The institute also said about half of the country's residents have been forced to leave their homes during the five years of war, while the number of wounded stands at 1.9 million, the average life span of Syrians has declined by 15 years, and the economic damage to the country is estimated to be about $255 billion.
