Aden governor killed in big explosion; ISIS affiliate claims responsibility
Governor Gaafar Mohamed Saad of the southern Yemeni province of Aden, along with six of his bodyguards, was killed Sunday by a huge explosion as he was on his way to work. The cause of the explosion in the Rimbaud area of the port city of Aden is under investigation. In a statement posted online, an ISIS affiliate took responsibility and claimed the explosion was the result of a bomb it had planted in a parked car, reports said. Saudi-backed government forces recaptured the town from Iran-backed Houthi rebels earlier this year in a war which Al Qaeda has been exploiting for gains.
