Ahead of Trump-Netanyahu meeting, Iran rejects talks with EU on its Mid-East influence drive
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi denied Sunday that negotiations with the EU covered Tehran’s regional influence. ”We reject…talks based on a definite framework,” he said. The talks on the sidelines of the recent Munich about Yemen, the Iranian spokesman said, focused on aid and ending Saudi Arabia’s intervention. DEBKAfile: These comments amounted to an Iranian refusal to discuss the situation in Syria with the European powers, so shutting the door on their plan to lead from there to negotiations on ways to improve the nuclear accord, in order to meet President Donald Trump’s proviso for re-certification in May. The nuclear topic is high on the agenda of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s talks with the US president on Monday.
It should be said that European powers are former powers that do not even want to put the promised money in NATO.
Europe has a future only when it is a real and not an imaginary entity, so far, do not even mention it.
Nuclear is not a deterrent for Muslims is it?
The Iranians will negotiate, they are smart politicians not just extremists. There needs to be some pressure on the Saudis to back off slightly in the way they’re handling the Yemen war it seems and a quid pro quo from the Iranians as well. From there on Syria could be broached..come on guys, where are the true negotiators from the EU?
