Ahmadinejad: Our nuclear program will not stop. We can cope with sanctions
Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told reporters Tuesday that Iran will not have to halt its nuclear program because of the rial’s record plunge against the dollar – a loss of about a third of its value in a week. He said panicky Iranians scrambling to change their rials for hard currency were responding to psychological warfare waged by the West. But, he said, the central bank had provided the currency needed to finance imports and compensate for the “moderate drop” in oil sales caused by sanctions.
