Amended IDF report on foiled Nahal Oz attack
Five Israeli soldiers were killed defending Kibbutz Nahal Oz against Palestinian infiltrators who tunneled from the Gaza Strip Monday for a terrorist attack which was foiled:
Their names have been released: Sgt. Daniel Kedmi, 18, from Tsofim; Sgt. Barkai Yishai Shor, 21, from Jerusalem; Sgt. Sagi Erez, 19, from Kiryat Ata; Sgt. David Deri, 18, from Jerusalem; and Sgt. Nadav Raimond, 19, from Shdemot Devora.
One of the band of 6-7 Palestinian infiltrators was killed in the engagement. Hamas claimed the rest returned to base through the same tunnel after failing to attack the kibbutz. The IDF lost 10 servicemen Sunday, July 28, on the 21st day of its counter-terror operation against Hamas, raising the total toll to 53.
