Amsterdam and Schiphol paralyzed by power outage
Hospitals, trains, trams and the metro have all been affected by a power outage Friday in Amsterdam and the surrounding area. The electricity network operator, Tennet, said the outage was caused by a grid "overload.” There are traffic jams across the capital as a result of traffic lights turning off. Llarge parts of the province of North Holland, including the nearby broadcasting centre of Hilversum, have been affected. All flights were cancelled at Schiphol international airport and diverted to regional airports.
