The stepped-up restrictions for curtailing the rapid spread of coronavirus went into effect on Wednesday morning, as they climbed in 24 hours by 1,052 to 16,653. Five overnight deaths raised the toll to 338. The number of seriously ill grew by four to 90. Altogether, 32 patients are on ventilators after another five were added. The new restrictions include the shutdown of wedding halls, bars, nightclubs, summer schools for children over 10, gyms, places of entertainment and theaters. Restaurants and cafes are allowed 20 dinners inside and 30 in the open air; buses only 20 passengers.
Emergency lockdown was imposed on Beitar Illit, effective up until next Wednesday.
