Another 5 people die of coronavirus, raising death toll to 319

Three of the five people who died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours came from a Jerusalem senior citizens home. In two local institutions, a total of 21 inmates and staff members were infected. The countrywide infection tally had jumped by Saturday morning to 22,800 of whom 5,614 were actively ill, 46 in serious condition and 28 on artificial respiration. The Health Ministry found the fastest rising numbers in the last three days in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak,and Tel Aviv. Sections of the towns of Ashdod, Bat Yam and Rahat are under emergency restrictions as hotbeds of the pandemic. The ministry plans to tighten restrictions across the country on gatherings and step up penalties in an effort to control the new spread of coronavirus.
