Another 600 armed police to be deployed at London’s landmarks
The Metropolitan police commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan and London Mayor Sadiq Khan announced Wednesday that the London police will deploy an additional 600 armed officers across the capital to protect against the threat of attacks. London’s threat level remains “severe” but, he said, the increase is not due to any specific intelligence but a long-term response to a spate of deadly attacks across Europe.
The majority of London police officers traditionally do not carry firearms.
