AQIM claims Ivory Coast attack killing 16 before gunmen “neutralized”

Ivory Coast security forces neutralized the six gunmen who used Kalashnikovs to attack three beach hotels at the Grand Bassam resort popular with Western tourists. The 16 dead included Europeans. Al Qaeda in the Maghreb (AQIM) which pledged loyalty to ISIS claimed the attack. DEBKAfile reported too that an American delegation was staying there during the attack, but nothing was said about their circumstances. The attack followed the same lines as the ISIS attack on the Tunisian beach resort of Soussa on June 26, 2015, when gunmen who came ashore by boat murdered 38 tourists, most of them British.
