Argentina upgrades hunt for missing submarine to search-and-rescue mission

No clues have been found so far to the whereabouts of the 44-crew Argentine Navy submarine which has been missing for three days on a routine voyage from the southern tip of South America to its home base at Mar del Plata. The vessel was last in contact Wednesday morning. A US Nasa P-3 explorer aircraft – capable of long-duration flights – is preparing to take part in the search, in addition to a Hercules C-130 from the Argentine Air Force. Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, and South Africa have all offered assistance in the search.
