As covid infection soars higher, tighter restrictions are considered
Israel’s lockdown is crashing in its second week under the weight of skyrocketing infection and public apathy. The Ministry of Health is considering adding new restrictions next week, including shutting part of the school system, to bring the figures down. On Thursday morning, another 5,253 cases were recorded in the past 24 hours with infection running at 5.5pc. The number of serious ill had climbed to 639, with 165 on ventilators and a total of 3.317 deaths were registered.
