Assad’s forces occupy 90pc of rebel-held eastern Aleppo

Syrian government forces backed by Russian air strikes overnight Sunday seized the eastern Aleppo neighborhood of Sheikh Saeed from rebel fighters and now hold 90 percent of the area the rebels held for two years. Russian sources report that 720 rebel fighters agreed to disarm and were transferred with a large group of civilians to the government-controlled western side of the embattled city.
