At least one killed, 3 wounded in tragedy at rabbi’s funeral

More than 100,000 hassidim from the Lublin Yeshiva gathered for the funeral in Benei Berak Saturday night of the renowned Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Wazner, who died at the age of 102. As the cortege started moving along Dessler Street, thousands of mourners pressed forward, pushing some to the ground and setting off a stampede. One man was killed, three are in critical condition in hospital and more than 100 mourners were injured.
The emergency paramedic teams rushed to the scene had to force their way to the victims through a hysterical mob.
