Australia joins US anti-Iran Gulf coalition

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison told reporters on Wednesday that his country is ready to join the US anti-Iran coalition in the Persian Gulf, since Iran’s “destabilizing behavior is a threat to Australia’s interests in the region.” After Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani denounced the coalition, Morrison said: “The government has decided that it is in Australia’s national interest to work with our international partners to contribute. Our contribution will be limited in scope and it will be time-bound,” he stressed.
