Australia’s Victoria state reopens after zero covid cases

After four months in stringent lockdown, Victoria state and the five million citizens of Melbourne registered no new coronavirus cases or deaths in 24 hours and were reopened. The strict stay-at-home restrictions were imposed when the state saw a second wave of infection in July. They were maintained against intense pressure to ease up directed at the state authorities.
