Barack Obama is projected to win reelection after capturing Ohio
President Barack Obama collects the winning number of 275 electors compared Governor Mitt Romney’s 203 after projected exit poll wins of Ohio, California, Washington, Hawaii, Wisconsin and New Hampshire. Some key battleground states are still too close to call and more results are coming in. But Chicago is already holding a victory celebration.
The real count of results will take several more hours.
Obama is also projected to take Maine, Delaware, Connecticut, Maryland, Illinois, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York, South Dakota and Massachusetts, as well as Minnesota, Michigan and Iowa; Romney to win West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Kansas, Wyoming, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota, as well as Utah, New Mexico and Montana.
