Barak hits back at Likud ministers’ allegations
In a special statement from his office, Israel’s defense minister Ehud Barak said Wednesday that he had devoted himself to cultivating close ties with the US, especially in defense, and worked hard to ease tensions and enhance US support for Israel’s security and its policies. This effort had shown good results, said the statement, and Barak intended to continue on his course in collaboration with other political and security players.
The defense minister was responding to allegations from the prime minister’s office and Likud ministers that in his recent visits to Washington, he had posed as holding views different from those of the prime minister and closer to Obama administration policies.
