Belarusian opposition activists blow up Russian spy plane

Activists opposing the Belarus government, a staunch ally in Putin’s war on Ukraine, said they had blown up a sophisticated Russian surveillance aircraft, a Beriev-50, in a drone attack at Machulishchy air base. “The participants of the operation are Belarusians,” Aliaksandr Azarov, leader of Belarusian anti-government organization BYPOL reported. NATO has dubbed the plane Mainstay and reports it is an airborne early warning aircraft with command and control capabilities and the ability to track up to 60 targets at a time.
