Bennett gets together with Saar on post-Netanyahu governmen
With five days to go before Binyamin Netanyahu’s mandate for forming a government coalition runs out, Yamina’s Naftali Bennett and New Hope’s Gideon Saar spoke for hours on Wednesday about the shape of the government they hope to form with opposition leader Yair Lapid. Both parties represent right-wing politics. Bennett earlier met at the Knesset for the first time with the Islamist Arab Ra’am leader Mansour Abbas, in a clear bid to take the lead in opposition efforts to displace Netanyahu as prime minister. Benny Gantz of Kachol Lavan, who from Wednesday holds both Defense and Justice portfolios, said he firmly expects to be in charge of defense in the future “government of change.”
