Best-selling crime writer Ruth Rendell dies aged 85
In 50 years, Rut Rendell produced more than 60 novels, many of them best-sellers snatched up by a loyal audience who appreciated the psychological dimension she brought to crime fiction. Her best known character was Inspector Wexford, who was featured in a long-running TV series. Rendell suffered a stroke in Januaryaged 85 and died in London Saturday morning.
