Biden holds unscheduled meeting with Mossad chief

President Joe Biden received Israel’s Mossad Director Yossi Cohen for a surprise meeting after Israel officials voiced deep concern to their American counterparts about the forthcoming US-Iran nuclear talks. The unusual encounter was set up after Cohen met Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday. US sources said the White House event was in line with the Biden administration’s promise to consult with America’s allies on its nuclear dialogue with Tehran. Cohen was the first Israeli official to be received by President Biden.

Earlier this week, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan met with his Israeli counterpart Meir Ben-Shabbat and heard Israel’s Ambassador Gilad Erdan state that Israel reserves its freedom of operation against Iran.
