Biden honors 400,000 covid dead on arrival in Washington
President-elect Joe Biden’s arrived in Washington a day before his inauguration as president later on Wednesday. He headed to Lincoln Memorial for a ceremony honoring the 400,000 Americans who have died of covid-19. The inauguration’s roll of invitees has been scaled down over the covid virus, as well as being covered by an unprecedented level of security following the Capitol Hill siege two weeks ago by protesters. The National Guard has been checking vehicles driving in and a close watch is kept on the skies after a threat that extremists may use drones to disrupt the inauguration. Two National Guardsmen were removed from duty over suspected links to extremism.
The ceremony taking place on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 1900 hours Israel time will be broadcast live by TV channels.
