Big fire leaves 12 injured in Maaleh Adummim. Other fires still blazing

Fires continue to blaze across Israel Saturday after five days of tireless battles by firefighters. Halamish, in the Binyamin region, was evacuated Friday night after 15 homes were gutted and 25 badly scorched. The fire there still rages, as it does in Nataf, in the Jerusalem Hills, which was twice evacuated. The popular Rama restaurant of Nataf was destroyed, along with the proprietor’s and other homes. In Maaleh Adummim east of Jerusalem, a large residential building caught fire. The cause is unknown. Twelve people succumbed to smoke fumes; three are in serious condition. At Neve Tsuf, 10 homes were destroyed. The flames there are still out of control. The American giant super tanker plane, which carries 75 tons of retardants, goes into action Saturday. Trippers ae warned to stay away from national parks and nature preserves where fire is a constant danger.
